OSCommerce and Drupal Merged!

Well not yet. This is perhaps one of the most requested features/modules/additions to Drupal that has ever been requested. I’ll preclude this post with saying that currently I do not know how to merge OSCommerce and Drupal, however, in the upcoming weeks (probably months) I’m going to make an attempt at merging the two open source behemoths.

You may ask why I would want to merge the two?
Two reasons. Um..because the eCommerce module for Drupal is sketchy at best, and the community aspect of OSCommerce is non-existent. The ITunes store is probably the best at merging the two and really it’s just an over glorified review system. I’d say that Threadless does a pretty good job of combining community with commerce, but they are still light on the community side. That, said if you’re at all interested in this project let me know and I’ll make sure to post my struggles, successes, and how-to advice.

thanks bud, it\’s definitely taking a lot longer than I originally thought. I scrambled through using the ECommerce Module that Drupal has, but I still found it a bit lacking in the product management area. That\’s saying a lot, because I really would like to use Drupal for everything. I definitely plan on revisiting the module, or perhap doing my own modifications in the near future.

    Please do!

Or else I’ll have to use web Edition *shudder*

If you find that you are looking for help with this let me know, I’m sure you can find sponsorship for this project.

    regards

    Christian

Aww, sponsorship would rock but I don’t mind doing it on my free time. Plus if someone starts giving me funds then I have to work on it as opposed to taking a nap on a Saturday afternoon.

  6. Hone says:

Well this is certainly way beyond my abilities.

I’d still be happy to donate some cash once you get this finished if you don’t want to feel the pressure of sponsorship.

    Drupal, a true pal?…

I´m not sure whether it is good news or bad news for me that I recently found the - more than a - CMS Drupal. But take a breath first, I start from the outset.
